The other day I received an unexpected invitation in my email inbox from a good friend who’d recently won a free lunch for himself and ten of his friends at Tempted Thai and Sushi in Boca Raton. Since I am never one to turn down good food, especially when it’s free, I’ll be joining my buddy Mike and eight others at 1 p.m. for what I hope will be delicious lunch.
Update: My verdict? Five stars!!!
Not only was the food superb, it was accompanied by friendly, attentive service. And as you’ll note in the video below, the decor transports diners back to the “mod 60s” (or at least conjures up memories of Austin Powers movies), while floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of sunshine to complement the ambiance (a welcome bonus today, given the chilly temps here in South Florida). It’s just a shame the 2nd-floor restaurant located at 21065 Powerline Rd. (west side, just south of Glades Rd) only offers views of the parking lot, instead of a lake or ocean — then again, perhaps if it did, the reasonable prices would have to be much higher.
I took advantage of their special lunch menu, offered Monday – Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and ordered the Chicken Fried Rice Bento Box, accompanied by four California Rolls, Edamame and Wonton. It was a delicious, generously portioned meal that also included a choice of miso soup or salad for $8.95. While I’ve always been a fan of both miso and Thai salads, I selected the former today and was definitely happy with my choice. This was one of the best Thai meals I’ve ever had.
As for my friends — well, I’ll let them share their thoughts in the video below. It’s safe to say, we’ll all be back to Tempted Thai and Sushi in the not too distant future!
