Sushi Review – Masamune Japanese Restaurant in Deerfield Beach

South Florida is Mecca for sushi lovers – all the wonderful fresh fish and seafood that you could dream of and served up by talented sushi chefs!

One of my favorite places for the best sushi with amazing sushi chefs is Masamune Japanese Restaurant in Deerfield Beach.  It is nestled right off of Federal Highway just north of Hillsboro and your experience begins as soon as you step through the door!

Waterfalls, soft asian music, an attentive and friendly staff and chefs that serve up fresh delights that leave you wanting more!

We stopped in for lunch last Saturday and enjoyed excellent service and creations that were loaded with flavor and freshness.

Beginning with the sashimi platter for 19.95, we were served generous cuts of salmon, tuna, snapper and whitefish.  The salmon was so sweet – truly, some of the best salmon that I have ever experienced.  The platter comes with delicious miso soup and a side salad with very flavorful ginger dressing which we shared and was just enough to leave room for the two rolls that rounded out our meal.

The first roll that we ordered was the Spider Roll – an outstanding combination of soft shell crab, avocado, fish eggs and just a touch of mayo.  Masamune does an impressive job of ensuring that the rolls are wrapped precisely, so each flavor is individual but blends perfectly in combo.  The presentation was delightful with the crab legs arranged elaborately!  The Spider Roll from Masamune was so good that I could have eaten another right away!

The second roll that we ordered was the Giant Sesame Roll – can you say Giant Favorite??  The Giant Sesame Roll at Masamune was a combo of tuna, egg (chicken egg not fish egg), crab, cucumber, avocado and scallions and was simply one of the most well made rolls that I have ever had.  Again, all of the individual fresh flavors were fantastic and worked together deliciously – even the egg which was a bit of a surprise!

All in all, every bite we had at Masamune was outstanding!  This was not our first visit and certainly will not be our last.  The cost for lunch with non-alcoholic drinks and tax was right around $50 and worth every single penny.  The adage that you get what you pay for is so true for sushi where freshness counts.

We hope that you try Masamune and please let them know that you read about them in the Palm Tree Press!
