Restaurant Review: Georges’ on the Main Line Philadelphia

Since I featured The William Penn Inn the other day, I thought I’d continue the Philadelphia-themed eatery reviews with another excellent establishment I had the pleasure of experiencing recently for my niece Julianna’s First Holy Communion luncheon. Located on the prestigious Main Line in Wayne, Pennsylvania Georges’ is a lovely setting for any occasion:

Georges’ is Chef Perrier’s answer to casual stylishness on Philadelphia’s Main Line. It presents global cuisine with varied selections along with unique presentations. The restaurant’s warm inviting atmosphere is the perfect place for a quick bite, an intimate meal, or a fun meeting place to gather with family and friends.

We were greeted warmly when we arrived and ushered in to a beautiful private dining area known simply as ‘The Bar”, much to the delight of just about every guest as they promptly ordered such refreshing concoctions as Mimosas, Champagne and Southern Comfort. The ambiance was casual elegance: ample arched windows situated on one side of the room and in one large corner allowed for plenty of light, while the rustic bar, hardwood floors and plush sectional sofa perched in front of an attractive fireplace gave it a distinctly northern feel.

As for the food, guests were first treated to delicious hot and cold butlered hors oeuvres including Pork and Vegetable Pot-Stickers, Jumbo White Gulf Shrimp Cocktail and Spanikopita.

Once seated, the first course consisted of a light salad of Mixed Baby Greens, Dried Cranberries and Goat Cheese tossed in White Balsamic Vinaigrette, accompanied by a selection of freshly baked breads. We’d been given a choice of three entrees: Atlantic Salmon, Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast or Steak Frites.

I’d opted for the salmon, which was seasoned with braised lentil in a light Dijon sauce — very flavorful! My table companions likewise had nothing but praise for their choices, and I found myself wishing I could’ve had a little bit of each entree instead of having to choose just one. Oh well — guess that means I’ll just have to make a return visit!

For dessert, we feasted on Georges’ signature Apple Tart with Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. Can I just say, my mouth is watering even remembering how divine it truly was?
