Restaurant Review: The William Penn Inn

If you find yourself traveling to the Philly area this summer, I highly recommend a visit to The William Penn Inn, located in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania for Sunday Brunch.

Actually, this full-service restaurant — which traces its origins all the way back to 1714 — offers a wide variety of dining options for lunch and dinner, but since I’ve experienced their amazing Sunday Brunch countless times over the years for holidays and special occasions, I am most qualified to attest to its unabashed deliciousness.

I will warn you though: save your appetite and arrive hungry because the extensive menu includes everything from a carving station featuring turkey breast, herb-crusted roast beef, and honey-glazed ham to a seafood buffet and a made-to-order omelet station.

And did I mention the sweet table adorned with chocolate-covered strawberries, fruit tarts, chocolate mousse, lemon squares, pecan squares and cannoli?

Watching your weight? Don’t worry, the tropical fruit selection – with its fresh cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple and other seasonal fruit will satisfy your craving for juicy sweetness without sacrificing your nutritional health plan.

Speaking of healthy eating, Atkins dieters can also enjoy Sunday Brunch at The William Penn Inn, where the Egg Bar boasts such sumptuous offerings as Eggs Benedict, poached eggs, deviled eggs and — for those with traditional tastes — plain ol’ scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage.

For those with a penchant for not-so-healthy breakfast options, they also serve pancakes, French toast, assorted breakfast breads and bagels, homemade cinnamon buns and Danish pastries.

All of this and more is yours to enjoy surrounded by an atmosphere of warm hospitality, historic elegance and Old World charm. The ambiance of The William Penn Inn evokes a long-ago era that predates the founding of the USA and reminds us that once-upon-a-time, good manners and uplifting camaraderie were always in style.

The William Penn Inn is also a perfect setting for milestone events like weddings and graduations — and all of life’s special celebrations.

And if you can’t get enough, there’s always the option of sleeping over in luxurious accommodations and/or  purchasing some delectable goodies from Mrs. Penn’s Bake Shoppe.

Bon Appetit!
