While Miami and Palm Beach County are in the same “South Florida” category, it is not often that we actually get down to Miami. The offerings for dining and shopping and things to do are fantastic so sometimes a day in Miami makes for a great day trip.
For your next day trip, we want to recommend a Downtown Miami must-try – Garcia’s Seafood Grille and Fish Market located on the Miami River.
Two of our Palm Tree Press Foodies recently had a fabulous lunch experience and we wanted to share with our readers!
Garcia’s is family run business and has been in business for over 20 years. There is an indoor-outdoor restaurant, as well as a bustling fish market. All the fish served at Garcia’s is caught fresh and brought right off the boat of their own fishing fleet. Amazing? YOU BET! Garcia’s has received accolades from critics and patrons alike and we know why – the incredible food, attentive service and did we mention the incredible food?
The recent lunch was a feast: a blackened Florida lobster tail served with yellow rice (a delicious concoction of rice and fish) and a whole grilled snapper with sides of coleslaw and green plantains. Everything was cooked to perfection and the food was enhanced by the breeze coming off the Miami River and the activity on the river that made for a fun sidebar.
Garcia’s is exactly what Miami cuisine is all about! There are daily favorites that were the catch of the day (literally) and house favorites – varieties of fish like dolphin and grouper and snapper that can be had blackened or fried or grilled; caesar salad that comes with shrimp or several choices of fish; grouper chowder and dolphin dip make the perfect starters.
Best Restaurant for Lunch, Best Waterfront Restaurant – Garcia’s has been awarded them all. Take the day. Lounge on the deck on the Miami river. Enjoy the bounty of the Florida waters and let Garcia’s give you an unforgettable South Florida eating experience!
